In just over a week’s time colleagues from the IT Service’s Training and Documentation Team will be running some workshops in The Sir Duncan Rice Library which are designed to help taught postgraduates with many of the common formatting problems and frustrations that can arise as they write their dissertations. Don’t waste vital time and energy fighting with Word 2013; instead, use your time well and come to one of the classes.

The workshops are designed to remove last minute nightmares such as correctly inserting a table of contents or sorting out section numbering across what is often the longest document many students have ever written. All of these problems seem to wait to rear their ugly heads just as deadlines approach, so come to one of the classes, which all take place between June 8 and June 12, to ensure you start this important piece of work with the skills to make the whole process as easy as possible.

This course will enable participants to create and manipulate long documents effectively by using the functions in Word 2013. By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Define and use an appropriate template
  • Understand and modify Inbuilt Styles
  • Apply multi-level numbering
  • Insert Section Breaks
  • Insert page Numbers
  • Use Captions for images/tables
  • Create Cross-References
  • Create Tables of Contents and Tables of Figures

tadTo sign up to attend one of these popular workshops please visit www.abdn.ac.uk/coursebooking . Look for courses offered by the Library. Do this soon, as places go fast!
