Library to host workshops on formatting dissertations for taught postgraduates

tadColleagues from the IT Service’s Training and Documentation Team will be running a series of workshops in the library next month to help postgraduate students who are in the midst of writing their dissertation. The sessions do not tell you what to write (unfortunately) but are designed to help you with the formatting  and management of such a large piece of written work when using Word 2013.

The workshops are designed to remove last minute nightmares of changing Table of Contents or what has happened to my numbering. All of these problems seem to wait to rear their ugly heads just before a deadline.

This course will enable participants to create and manipulate long documents effectively by using the functions in Word and to stop the deadline nightmare. Just like any good design you must first plan and setup your design.

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Define and use an appropriate template
  • Understand and modify Inbuilt Styles
  • Apply multi-level numbering
  • Insert Section Breaks
  • Insert page Numbers
  • Use Captions for images/tables
  • Create Cross-References
  • Create Tables of Contents and Tables of Figures

To sign up to attend one of these popular workshops please visit www.abdn.ac.uk/coursebooking . Do this soon, as places go fast!
