Database reminder: CrossFire and Reaxys

December 2, 2010
Access to the specialised chemical CrossFire database service will end at midnight on 31 December 2010. Anyone trying to access the CrossFire service after that date will be re-directed to the replacement Reaxys service.

Reaxys is available at www.reaxys.com. To access Reaxys from off-campus you must set a proxy on your web browser. Some progress is being made on providing a Shibboleth/Institution login but an activation date for this has not yet been confirmed.

Update on access to ebrary

September 27, 2010

Due to the current problem with Shibboleth ebrary have altered our account temporarily so that IP authentication is possible. This should allow people working on campus, or those off-campus who set the web proxy in their browser,  to directly access the e-books. Instructions on how to set the web proxy are available at http://www.abdn.ac.uk/proxy.

Unfortunately it will not be possible to view books on your bookshelf or other personalised features available through Shibboleth login.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Disruption in the Shibboleth login service

September 27, 2010

Unfortunately there has been a problem with migration to a new version of Shibboleth which has resulted in error messages when attempting to login to databases. A specific issue has been identified but it’s unlikely to be resolved today.

IP authentication will not be affected and users off campus will be able to access IP authenticated resources as normal by setting the web proxy in their browser. Information on how to do this is available at http://www.abdn.ac.uk/proxy.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
