We now have access to the Occupational Health & Safety Information Service (OHSIS) database supplied by IHS. With access to over 400 publishing organisations, this resource provides full text documents on health and safety issues including first aid, electrical safety, manual handling, safety training and dangerous substances. Full text British Standards related to health/safety and fire are included, as are selected Institute of Petroleum Model Codes of Safe Practice.
The database is available to University of Aberdeen staff and students and can be accessed from www.info4education.com using the UK Federation/Shibboleth log in.

Following Sunday’s upgrade to the Web of Knowledge platform new features are available for to support more in-depth searching. There’s now an improved Subject Area/Category search available in Advanced Search mode and left hand truncation in the Topic and Title fields. Enhancements in data collection have resulted in more complete cited reference data being presented. An overview of the new options is available at https://www.brainshark.com/thomsonscientific/newfeat_wok5_6_en

Vendors of the Oil and Gas Energy Law (OGEL) database have implemented a change in access to full text content. For each new search session – the first time you click on a link to download a document you will be asked to supply a valid University of Aberdeen email address (in order to identify yourself). A message is then sent to your email containing a link back to OGEL. Follow this link to complete the download. You will need to do this only once per search session.
Problems have been reported over the weekend with the email setup. They have been reported to OGEL and we hope to have the service up and running again as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
