NEW: Access to OHSIS Health & Safety database

We now have access to the Occupational Health & Safety Information Service (OHSIS) database supplied by IHS. With access to over 400 publishing organisations, this resource provides full text documents on health and safety issues including first aid, electrical safety, manual handling, safety training and dangerous substances. Full text British Standards related to health/safety and fire are included, as are selected Institute of Petroleum Model Codes of Safe Practice.

The database is available to University of Aberdeen staff and students and can be accessed from www.info4education.com  using the UK Federation/Shibboleth log in.

UPDATE: Web of Knowledge – new features

May 7, 2012

Following Sunday’s upgrade to the Web of Knowledge platform new features are available for to support more in-depth searching. There’s now an improved Subject Area/Category search available in Advanced Search mode and left hand truncation in the Topic and Title fields. Enhancements in data collection have resulted in more complete cited reference data being presented.  An overview of the new options is available at https://www.brainshark.com/thomsonscientific/newfeat_wok5_6_en

MAINTENANCE: RefWorks – Sunday 6 May

This weekend, RefWorks services will be unavailable for up to 5 hours starting at 06.00 on  Sunday 6 May.

While this work takes place, RefWorks services including RefMobile and Write-N-Cite will be unavailable.  In their place, RefWorks will post a message that will be updated with any changes to the Maintenance Window schedule.  There will be a short period of up to one hour when even this message will not be available.

MAINTENANCE: Web of Knowledge – Sunday 6 May

Services from the suite of databases on the Web of Knowledge platform (including Web of Science) will be disrupted during essential maintenence work on Sunday 6 May. MAINTENANCE: Web of Knowledge/Science – Sunday 29 April

Thomson Reuters will be performing maintenance to Web of Knowledge (Web of Science), EndNote Web and ResearcherID this Sunday, April 29, 2012 beginning at 12.00 BST (11.00 GMT). This maintenance is expected to last approximately 12 hours.

During this time, there may be disruption of service and product access, including Web of Knowledge Personalisation. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

PROBLEM UPDATE – OGEL

The new access/download method of obtaining full text content on the ‘Oil and Gas Energy Law’ database is now working. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.


ACCESS CHANGE TO OGEL

April 9, 2012

Vendors of the Oil and Gas Energy Law (OGEL) database have implemented a change in access to full text content. For each new search session – the first time you click on a link to download a document you will be asked to supply a valid University of Aberdeen email address (in order to identify yourself). A message is then sent to your email containing a link back to OGEL. Follow this link to complete the download. You will need to do this only once per search session.

Problems have been reported over the weekend with the email setup. They have been reported to OGEL and we hope to have the service up and running again as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Direct access to MetaLib is not currently available. Access is still available via Primo through the ‘Journal articles, e-books and more’ tab and through Find Databases. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.


SERVICE DISRUPTION: Scopus and ScienceDirect
